...and then there were none ~

...and then there were none ~
So I've blogged about our fishys before, but I'm sad to report that the last of our gigantic goldfish have passed away. We've gotten some new ones, ( one we adopted from a friend ), but it's not the same. Oh, they're cute and all, and we really like them, but we've had the giant ones for quite some time, and they were the last of the first group of fishys that we ever got ~ we really miss them ( especially our kiddo ) <3

Wedding Bells ~

...or in this case, wedding carriage....Should be sleeping right now, but am painting a cake topper for my cousin's wedding. A beautiful little carriage with roses, and the Groom helping the Bride to step out of the carriage. So pretty :)  I'm painting the wheels silver, and the seat cusions a bright blue, to match the wedding colors. I've added a touch of green to the leaves of the bunches of roses that are on the carriage, but have left the roses themselves white, as the Bride will be carrying white roses. I started with acrylic paint, but soon found that it was taking multiple layers to cover where I was trying to apply the paint. So I found some enamel paints, and they have worked like a charm! ~ I still had to do a couple of layers, but it covered a lot better than the acrylic was. I hope to be done with the whole thing by the end of the week. The peice is so detailed, that sometimes when I paint one part a certain color, I end up hitting another part of the peice with that color too, and have to go back and touch up. So far, so good though. ~ And I hope they like it. <3

WAFFLE-SCIENCE

Well, it's not exactly Rocket-Science, BUT, it sure isn't easy, and there is a definate trick to it! ... Pulled out the old waffle maker that belonged to my Hubby's Grandparents. It's been a while, and I've definitely forgotten how to do it, and just what the secrets are. Too much batter??, Not enough?? or is it the waffle maker itself????  ...either way, I started off thinking that the waffle would just drop out or come off easily....WRONG!....lol, the whole entire thing stuck and even split, with half on the top, and half on the bottom...and had to scrape it off with a fork and a great deal of patience. I figured it would come off fairly easily because of the oil in the batter mix, and the fact that the waffle maker, though old, has one of those dark brown non-stick surfaces.

The second try... went a little better ~ Translation; It didn't stick or split! It did take a bit of persuading with the fork, but it stayed all in one nice peice, AND, it didn't burn!! **( BONUS) ** .........My daughter got the first "good" one, and now I'm onto my second....wish me luck! ...and remember, whilst making waffles.....non-stick spray is your friend. ;) ........... HAHA nope these are not mine...

More Goldfish ~

Ok, here are two more videos of artist Riusuke Fukahori creating his beautiful Goldfish ~ I really like the second one with the white one on the glasswindow ~

Incredible Art!

I just saw this link posted on Facebook today by a friend, and fellow artist, ( no, not the artist featured in the video), and had to share it ~
Kinda fun too cause of my little goldfish pond app in my sidebar too ;)

The artwork that Riusuke Fukahori does, is quite simply put ~ incredible!
While there's really nothing simple about it, Riusuke Fukahori has such talent, that he sure does make it look simple ~ To me, that is a sign of a very talented artist indeed!! :)

Enjoy both videos ~

Barn owl Web-cam (Audubon)

I follow The National Audubon on Facebook, and today they posted a link to their Barn Owl web-cam, that I just had to share. The owl's eggs just hatched last night. What a treat to be able to see this beautiful family! ( There are two live cameras - and also footage of the new babies hatching - oh, and there is actually sound too! ) :) http://www.starrranch.org/blog/barn-owl

So I'm kind of excited to read some good news - though a bit hopful it will change - let me explain... I homeschool our daughter and use Verticy - via Clavert schools - a homeschool curriculum that has been around for a LOOOOONG time! - but - They only went up to the 8th grade. - So I find out today that Calvert School will be working with the National Connections Academy so that there is an 8th grade and beyond! ~ Now from what I understand, ( my husband's cousin has her son in Connetions Academy ), Connections Academy, is homeschooling that works directly with the public schools in your area. - This is good, in that it gives people more flexibility, and that it is also accredited ( just like Calvert and Verticy ), and goes all the way through 12th grade! - as lots of homeschools do not. - but - I, ( and I'm not alone ), would LOVE to see Calvert and Verticy have their own curriculum that goes through the 12th grade. - We have some time before we get there, so we'll see - maybe they will by the time we are ready to cross that perverbial bridge. :) http://www.nationalconnectionsacademy.com/private-school/landing/calvert-school.aspx .
