Malachi 3:3 says: 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. ................. This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God... .............. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. ............... That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver. .............. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. ............... The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver. ................. She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time. ............ The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. ................. The woman was silent for a moment. SEVEN REASONS NOT TO MESS WITH CHILDREN - soemthing cute sent to me by my husbands cousin ~ Enjoy! :) ........ A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'. The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?' The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'. ............. A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.' The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.' Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.' ............ A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?' From the back, one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.' ........ O ne day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head. She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?' Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.' The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?' ........... The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. 'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.' A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.' ........... A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.' 'Yes,' the class said. 'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?' A little fellow shouted, 'Cause your feet ain't empty.' ........... The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: 'Take only ONE . God is watching.' Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples..' .......... It doesn't matter how many people you send this to, just remember if it made you laugh, your friends will laugh too.

New Years Eve is fast approaching - We usually just stay in, and watch the ball drop, and have some fun foods, chips, dips, and the like. - not sure what I'll make just yet, was going to make some fun h'orderves like I ususally do, but might go for the full on meal this year. I still have a ham that haven't cooked up yet, and some cresent rolls. I might just go ahead and put something together like that - that way too, I can just serve leftovers the next day! ( YAY! - Works for me!! ). ............

So today is a laundry day, and a taking it easy day ~ quite frankly, I'm surprised that I'm out from under the covers today. Whew! I am POOPED OUT! - Well, here's to another day!....

Merry Christmas - Not so sure what to post..it's been a weird year to say the least. Hoping next year is less weirder ( is that even a word? lol! ) ... And Happy New Year to all!

Wheel broke on my wagon... Well, I guess it's better than totally falling off the wagon, right? - At any rate - I haven't posted on her since the Summer. We were enjoying our lazy days of..., and then reality reared it's ugly head again - school - . Time to enroll again. So one assesment test later and our kiddo was able to skip a grade YAY!! - She feels great about it, and so do we. It's just what she needed, and she seems to be in just the right spot for now. ...Now getting started has been a whole 'nuther deal ...- .... We've had a slow start ( partly due to going for two years strait with schooling), and NEEDING that break so badly!!!! - and then just getting back into the swing of things. Our schedule still isn't quite right. Life keeps butting it's nose in, and changing things around. Relatives and friends that are ill, or need something, BFF visits (also much needed), a costume to be made, rooms to be shoveled ...oh, I mean cleaned, out ...you know how the list can multiply and go on and on - . So I think we've made some headway - getting used to the newer set up with the on-line part of the cirriculum, and our sleep schedules need some work too ( yes, yes I am writing this at 1:59am. - and that's with the clocks set back an hour too ...weird how it really felt like 9:00pm when it was only 5 something pm. this evening ). Guess we'll get there. ~ Just have to take a step at a time ~

A Piratey Day!

So the last time I posted, I talked about my kiddo taking a placement test - She did, and our prayers have been anwered - She got to skip a full grade (YAY!!) - In fact we've ordered and recieved all our school books for the year, and have gotten underway, as it were. - Other things are coming along too. - Although I do need to get on those drawings for th Bible video, ASAP! We had a wonderful Summer - Including our trip to Chincoteague Va., we've gone to The Rennaisance Festival, and our County Fair, as well as a trip to Calvert Cliffs, to play in the water, and hunt for shells and fossils. - On all accounts, we came home with fine treasures of which any Pirate would be proud!! - We've had fun today, even with school - after all, today IS International Talk Like A Pirate Day!! ARRRRRRRR! ;)

Progress ...

Now working on placement test. My daughter is doing a fantastic job too! Just wish she didn't get so anxious. (Guess that's something partly inherited too.) - Hoping she can get in at at least one grade level below where she would be in public school. I know she would do well at least there - and we can alsways try it out and go up a grade level too. SO much to do and so much to work on. Placement test - Bible video drawings - getting things painted and ready at the farm - working on the mural at the farm - doing drawings for the childrens book - working on getting the upstairs room cleared out - it goes on and on. - but - I guess if it didn't I'd be just sitting here twiddling my thumbs ;)

Ponies and Sunshine

With homeschooling done ( YAY!!!!! ), we were able to go on a vacay - a mini vacay, but a vacay none-the-less ( DOUBLE YAY!!!! ). We went to Chincoteague Island, VA. and saw The Wild Ponies, played on the beach, and even got in a round of mini golf. :D Fun was had by all and a MUCH needed break was a welcomed relief! When do we get to go back?!?!?

- migraine's gone - (yay!) - nerves are not. Getting a cavity filled is not something I readily look forward to, but then niether is the pain fo a ful blown cavity. ;)

Weather was incredible today - sure wish it could be like that every day

Not sure what to expect for Father's Day - guess we'll see.

We interrupt this blog...

Well, I just realized that the little music player at the bopttom of my blog page, also is broadcasting commercials - (sure didn't realise that when I installed it!). So I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about that - and I would delete it, but it took me quite a while to even figure it out and to get all the songs that I wantedt, to be on there to play in the first place - so just know that the ads, or what they say even, are not from me nd not endoresed by me in any way shape or form - but please - do try to enjoy the music I've picked out. :)

Sitting here trying to wake up, and get over a migraine - seems to be gone ( love that I have meds that will actually do something for me ), and getting ready to make myself something to eat. Hubby has off today, and he and our kiddo are going to go for a walk down by the sand spit. Should be nice, and on such a beautiful day, it will definitely be refreshing and good for the soul. - I can't wait for school to be over, and I know our kiddo feels the same way. - too much to do and not enough time and WAY to much pressure with the time left to get it all done in. - ( hate that feeling ) ...... so - big *sigh* and back to work we go - nose to the grindstone.

bleary-eyed

tired, groggy, tired, want to go to bed - to sleep, perchance to dream. Was woken up wayyy to early, and still have not been able to get back to sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :/ :(

Tired

Done with all the tests for test 140 ( yay ) - still working on cleaning the upstairs and guest arrives tomorrow - hubby? - he mowed the lawn. Well, at least our guest won't be offended that our grass is too high - I mean, that IS most important, isn't it?

Still going at it - Three more tests to compleate. Don't know why, but I seem to forget just how long these things take. Hoping I can keep my wits and my sanity - or maybe they are one and the same? ;)
Also getting ready ( have not started in ernest yet, as we are still doing the testing ), for my hubby's Uncle's visit, and getting the house ready for that. He will be visiting with us for a whole month. ..I had started working on the upstairs, due to wanting to finish off the unfinished room up there, which is very large, and would accomodate a bed and dresser much more readily. As it stands, there is a smaller room ( more like a living room ), that has a couch, chair and tv. - There is also currently a twin sized bed in this room too, but it will be much more comfortable once the larger room is finished off, and things are moved around accordingly. That said - I have to go through all of my junk....er-a, stuff, and weed out what I really should get rid of. I'm already a bonified pack-rat, but since my Aunt and my Dad have passed, I have inherited more things. Mostly clothes. Clothes that I really do need to get rid of, especially the ones that are out of date, or out of "fit". I had started working on the mountain of clothes, by spreading them out in the smaller room to get a better look at what all I have. But - now that my husband's Uncle will be staying with us, I will have to gather all the clothes back up, and stick them in the larger room, where they will sit and wait for me, for a month. - oh well - two steps forward and three steps back. -

To sleep, perchance to dream ...

Sooooo tired - been going non-stop with my kiddo and homeschooling ( we're doing testing right now ) - at least after this set of tests, we will only have one more set of tests to go - YAY!

The "Green Thing"

I thought this was a good one -



The Green Thing



In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should
bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren't good for the
environment.

The woman apologized to him and explained,
"We didn't have the green thing back in my day."

The clerk responded, "That's our problem today.
The former generation did not care enough to save our environment."

He was right; that generation didn't have the "green thing" in its day.

Back then, they returned their milk bottles,
soda bottles and beer bottles to the store.
The store sent them back to the plant to be washed
and sterilized and refilled,
so it could use the same bottles over and over.
So they really were recycled.

But they didn't have the "green thing" back in that customer's day.

In her day, they walked up stairs,
because they didn't have an escalator in every store and office building.
They walked to the grocery store and
didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine
every time they had to go two blocks.

But she was right. They didn't have the "green thing" in her day.

Back then, they washed the baby's diapers
because they didn't have the throw-away kind.
They dried clothes on a line,
not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -
wind and solar power really did dry the clothes.
Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters,
not always brand-new clothing.

But that old lady is right, they didn't have the "green thing" back in her day.

Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house -
not a TV in every room.
And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief,
not a screen the size of the state of Montana .
In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because
they didn't have electric machines to do everything for you.
When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail,
they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it,
not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, they didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline
just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power.
They exercised by working so they didn't need to go to a health club
to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right, they didn't have the "green thing" back then.

They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty
instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time
they had a drink of water.
They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen,
and they replaced the razor blades in a razor
instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.

But they didn't have the "green thing" back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus
and kids rode their bikes to school or walked
instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service.
They had one electrical outlet in a room,
not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances.
And they didn't need a computerized gadget
to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space
in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks
were just because they didn't have the "green thing" back then?

Time out -

Think I'm going to try to "sneak" out tonight when my hubby gets home. Our daughter has been sick for the last couple of days, but is doing much better now. - And I need to get a lamp for the living room, and some facial cleaning stuff for me. - I've been using Garnier, but some of the products sting my face a bit ( is it supposed to do that??), and so I think I'm going to try Nutragina, and see how that goes. - I recently picked up a much needed new book case. we needed more room for the books we have for homeschooling, and personal reading. - I'm hoping to find what I'm looking for when I go out this evening, and besides, I really do need to get out of the house for a bit - for my own sanity! ;)

Well here I am again - not sure ( still) how this site works - ( sorry, doesn't seem like alot of traffic here - not noticeible anyway ) - not sure what to type, so here it goes. ....
